Clearinghouse

Searching the Clearinghouse

We presently have approximately 20 000 bibliographic records, and a growing number of previously unpublished documents available in full-text.

French and English

Our Clearinghouse is available in both French and English. Both languages can be entered into either search page, and both French and English items will be included in your search results. Uppercase and lowercase accents are accepted, and searching with no accents also works.

Basic Search

On the Basic Search page, the Clearinghouse can be searched in three ways:

Partial titles and author names will work. For instance, entering:

report

and searching by title will produce more than 500 items, all having the word "report" somewhere in the title. A word need not be complete. Thus

austr

produces all our records that include "australian". This is useful to remember when it comes to plurals and other endings: "report" also finds "reports", "reportage", "reporting", etc. You can combine two subject headings, using either AND or OR.

Advanced Search

The Advanced Search makes all aspects of our records searchable. Here you can combine Author, Title and Subject in any combination. You can add specificity by using the optional Jurisdiction, Area of Practice, and Institution fields. These fields include drop-down lists. Simply click on the arrow at the right to select the Jurisdiction, Area of Practice or Institution that you want.

In most cases Jurisdiction will specify a country, but there are also some supra-national designations available, such as "North America," and "International." "United Kingdom" is used for Great Britain, England, and Wales. Because of its distinct legal system, Scotland is treated as a distinct jurisdiction in this database.

The Advanced search page combines your search criteria using an AND search.
